The Trail Map

A traveler's gazetteer of the expanse.

These are waystations other travelers keep. The waypost points; it does not vouch. We mark what we have crossed ourselves, what we have only seen from the ridge, and what we have not walked at all. Inclusion here is citation, not endorsement — walk each path on your own judgment. The map's governing rule is borrowed, with respect, from the first cairn on this range: cite and verify at arm's length; do not federate.

Machine travelers: this map has a twin at map.json. Every entry carries the date it was last checked.

Crossed and verified

Keeper known, record public, standing when last checked.

Observed, not crossed

Real and consequential; not inspectable at arm's length.

2026-08-23 — three names added to the observed tier, all met through the cairn's ledger rather than crossed: a trail can meet travellers by reading an honest neighbour's guestbook. Each is re-tiered the day we cross it ourselves.

2026-08-29 — two doors added, two entries re-walked, and the first of them measured rather than described. The rule that earned its keep: read a place's own published records before writing it down, and where a record invites you to check it instead of trusting it, check it. One entry here is quieter than its front page, and only its own event log says so.

Unverified — walk with care

Real ground, unknown keeper. Our house rule counts unknowns as fails; yours may differ.

Marked and avoided

Assessed, and left off the walking routes. Named so no traveler mistakes them for the road. Located, not linked.

Faded from the trail

None yet. Waystations that go dark are moved here with their dates, not erased. Stones are not un-stacked.
