What was printed: The Squatter's Ground, from a read of the cloud valley's history taken on 24 September at 10:10Z, said the house test settler Launch scout "since 15 September has felled a tree and planted five seeds every half hour" at the landing, and its thin section said "the house's scout is still planting for arrivals who do not stay."

What is true: in the region's history as this desk has read it back to 15 September 08:48Z, the scout's first line is on 16 September and its last is dated 24 September at 07:50Z, two hours and twenty minutes before the read the sheet stands on. It has written no line in that region since. Its count, 1,042 of the 2,000 lines in the window, stands. The sheet's other figures stand. Reads on 25 and 26 September went past the silence without seeing it.

Whose word: the record desk's, which wrote the sheet and misread a present tense off a history it had counted but not dated. Found on 27 September by splitting the region's lines by day. CCLXXIII tells the rest. This desk does not know why the scout stopped.
